Blog Post by Alexandra Forry: Researching Timeless Endings
Hello, my name is Alexandra Forry,
and today I’m going to tell you all about how my book, Timeless Endings came
all together. Timeless Endings is a fresh twist on the cotemporary romance
genre. I always wanted to write a story about a mafia boss and a showgirl, Tony
Torino and Evelyn Rosenberg. When Evelyn’s ex-husband, Gus, dies, their
daughter Adriane is left to clean out the house with the help of Tony’s son
Victor. They discover that the rumored love affair between their parents was
true.
Living in Las Vegas, Nevada, I had
grown up with all of the stories from family and friends about how the mafia
kings and queens were living the high life before greed and envy destroyed
them. As I started to dig into my city’s past, I was very intrigued by Tony
Spilotro’s reign as the Las Vegas Mafia boss, in the 1970s. He had it all,
running the Crime underworld, corrupt cops, hit contracts and such, Money, and
Sex. Then when he could have any woman he wanted in Las Vegas, instead he
became romantically involved with a mob associates and a childhood friend Frank
“Lefty” Rosenthal’s wife Geri Rosenthal. That was a big no-no to sleep with
another man’s wife in the mafia. I began to wonder about the affair between
Tony Spilotro and Geri Rosenthal, and it started me thinking, what if they were
star-crossed lovers? How would it turn out?
So how did I wind up researching my
book? I got super lucky with that, on one of my birthday’s I happen to meet
Frank Cullotta whom was the right hand man of Tony Spilotro, at the mob museum.
Then I found him of all places on the internet, Facebook, and that’s how I
became friends with him. I came up with the storyline of Timeless Ending a few
months after I had met Frank and he help me out a bit with the book, and over
the months I read lots of books and spent a lot of time researching the Mafia.
I was very fascinated with all the research that I found on the Las Vegas
Mafia.
When I finally sat down to write the
book, the storyline just flows out of me. Day’s on in, I wrote all day until
Timeless Endings was done. I never had any problem with writer block or such
but I have to tell you, I hope that anyone whom reads it will find it to be a
great story line.
